"It is hard for me to imagine that the Chinese ambassador, who is in Ukraine, does not inform his government about the attacks on the Ukrainian capital. Our embassy in Beijing also regularly sends information about Russia's crimes in Ukraine to the Chinese Foreign Ministry," Nikolenko stated.

The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that "it is incorrect to pretend that nothing is happening when the whole world is talking about it".

"We expect a more proactive role for China as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. There can be no compromises or political nuances when it comes to condemning barbaric crimes against civilians," he added.

Earlier, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, said at yesterday’s press conference that China knew nothing about the attacks by Russian drones on Kyiv, when five people were killed and infrastructure was damaged.

Reminder: The European Union has prepared a document that recommends that member states take a tougher line on China and consider this country as an all-out competitor with limited areas of potential engagement.

Last week, the EU foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, delivered a speech in which he said that the EU has relied too much on Russia and China and this must change.
