Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, has reported that Ukraine has sent out requests for the aid needed using NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and the EU’s civil protection mechanism (ERCC - Emergency Response Coordination Centre).

Ukrainian diplomats have also approached dozens of international and non-governmental organisations and private companies with a request for the supply of generators, their components and spare parts, as well as equipment for Ukraine’s gas transmission system.

"President Zelenskyy has instructed the diplomats to get international partners involved to deal with the consequences of Russian missile terrorism against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received a list of equipment needed from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Energy Ministry and other governmental bodies and has turned to our partners. We have received the first positive responses about the readiness to supply the equipment as soon as possible", Kuleba stated.

Thanks to the diplomats’ prompt work, agreements regarding supplies from Italy, France, Lithuania, Finland, Germany and Poland have already been reached.

The first of about 600 pieces of equipment will arrive in Ukraine as early as next week.

The ministry added that stable supplies will help ensure that Ukrainian households, hospitals and schools can operate without interruption if critical energy infrastructure is damaged or power outages occur.

"Russia’s targeted attacks on critical energy infrastructure constitute war crimes, and Russia will undoubtedly be held accountable for them. Russian missile terrorism will not break Ukraine or its partners. Our solidarity is only getting stronger. We have already received confirmation concerning the supply of the equipment from our partners in just the first few days of work," Kuleba concluded.

Earlier, it was reported that Spain will supply Ukraine with generators to help it deal with the consequences of the attacks on the energy infrastructure.

Latvia will also donate 200,000 euros for the purchase of diesel generators for Kyiv.
