Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant and energy protection: Zelenskyy shares details of talk with Macron

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, discussed the demilitarisation of the Russia-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and facilitation of energetic stability of Ukraine with Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, on Monday, 21 November.

"I had a call with Emmanuel Macron. Informed him about the situation on the battlefield and at Ukrainian nuclear plants. Stressed the need of demilitarization of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. We also discussed cooperation on ensuring Ukraine's energy stability, in particular, protecting the system from air attacks," Zelenskyy stated.

Earlier on Monday, Macron reported that he called Zelenskyy due to new Russian attacks on the ZNPP.

On Sunday, 20 November, Macron held talks with Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), concerning the situation at the ZNPP.

The IAEA has described the Russian shellings on the ZNPP on 19 and 20 November as "one of the most intense such episodes in recent months".
