Zelenskyy says that work is underway to force Russia to withdraw from Zaporizhzhia NPP

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that he discussed the protection of Ukraine's energy infrastructure with French President Emmanuel Macron.  In particular, the two presidents discussed the demilitarisation of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP).

Quote: "Today, I spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron about the immediate implementation of several points of our Peace Formula. Namely, about radiation safety and the situation at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, as well as about the energy security of Ukraine and Europe.

We are working to ensure the implementation of the IAEA instructions that any hostilities against Ukrainian nuclear facilities should cease."

Details: Zelenskyy added that the demilitarisation of the ZNPP is extremely important, and that Russia must withdraw all its militants from the plant and stop shelling it. Zelenskyy went on to say that President Macron is ready to support the protection of Ukrainian energy facilities.

Zelenskyy also said that France is ready to show leadership during the conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine and the implementation of our Fast Recovery Plan.

Background: On 17 November, the Board of Governors of the 35-nation International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) passed its third resolution since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, calling on Russia to cease all actions against and at nuclear facilities in Ukraine immediately.
