The upcoming week may be as hard as the last one. Our defence forces are preparing. The whole state is preparing. We are working out all possible scenarios, including in consultation with our partners."

Details: Zelenskyy called on Ukrainians to observe the safety measures during the air raid sirens and to help people around them whenever possible.

He went on to say that, as of the evening of 27 November, most regions of Ukraine were having only rolling power cuts; "the situation is under the control of the energy authorities."

The president noted that the situation at the front remains "very difficult", especially in the Donetsk region.

Background:

  • Russia launched another large-scale missile attack on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on 23 November. Ukraine’s anti-aircraft defence systems shot down 51 out of 70 Russian cruise missiles and five kamikaze drones.
  • A large-scale Russian missile attack on 23 November resulted in temporary power outages at all nuclear power plants and most thermal and hydroelectric power plants. Power transmission facilities have also been damaged. As a result, the vast majority of electricity consumers across the country were cut off.  The water and heat supply to households was also interrupted.
