Russia able to use UAVs in any weather conditions

The Russian forces can use unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) against Ukraine, regardless of temperature conditions.

Source: Colonel Oleksandr Zaruba, representative of the Centre for Research of Trophy and Advanced Weapons and Military Equipment, during a briefing at the Military Media Centre on 15 December.

Quote: "Researchers of the Centre are conducting a study on the technical characteristics of unmanned aerial vehicles. The results of these studies show that there are no restrictions [for UAVs– ed.] to fly in any weather conditions.

[We see – ed.] the results of their use, they flew yesterday and nothing obstructed them. That is, they can be used in any weather conditions."

Details: According to Zaruba, as for any aircraft, there are certain limitations, and when the UAV passes through certain layers of the atmosphere, the UAV can freeze over or become otherwise unable to perform its task.

However, Ukrainian experts have seen special devices in some samples of UAVs that can heat up the external sensors.

At the same time, the colonel once again stressed that frost or heat does not affect Russia’s use of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Background: Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Air Force of Ukraine, reported that Iranian-made kamikaze drones that Russia is using in the war against Ukraine are not sensitive to cold; only no-fly weather and a rapid shift from above-zero to below-zero temperature can have an impact on their use.
