Ukraine’s defence forces shoot down 11 Russian drones over Kharkiv overnight – General Staff report

Russian troops attacked Kharkiv's energy infrastructure on the night of 28-29 December with 13 Shahed drones, 11 of which were shot down by units of Ukraine’s defence forces.

Details: Over the past 24 hours, the Russians launched 30 air and 7 missile strikes, specifically on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Kostiantynivka (Donetsk Oblast) and Kharkiv. More than 70 attacks from multiple-launch rocket systems also occurred.

Last night [28-29 December], Russian troops once again struck the energy infrastructure of Kharkiv, using 13 Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones to do so. 11 of these drones were shot down by Ukrainian Air Force units.

The Russians continue to conduct offensive operations on the Bakhmut and Avdiivka fronts, trying to improve their tactical positions on the Lyman front.

Units of the Defence Forces repelled attacks by the occupiers in the areas of the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Andriivka, Ploshanka and Chervonpopivka in the Luhansk Oblast and Belogorivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Pidhorodne, Bakhmut, Klishchiivka, Kurdiumivka, Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, Maryinka and Pobieda in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna fronts, the vicinities of Gremyachka and Lypivka (Chernihiv Oblast) were subjected to artillery shelling; Znob-Novhorodske, Chernatske, Iskryskivshchyna, Velyki Budky and Zapsillia of Sumy Oblast, as well as Chervona Zorya, Veterynarne, Krasne, Ohirtseve, Gatyshche, Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Staritsa, Ternova, Novomlynsk and Dvorichna in Kharkiv Oblast.

On the Kupiansk and Lymansk fronts, the occupiers fired on the areas of more than 20 settlements. Among them are Sinkivka, Vilshana, Kupiansk, Kyslivka and Krokhmalne in Kharkiv Oblast, and Stelmakhivka, Ploshchanka, Chervonopopivka and Dibrova in Luhansk Oblast, as well as Yampolivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Bakhmut front, the occupiers fired on more than 25 settlements from tanks, mortars, and rocket artillery. In particular, these are Spirne, Bilohorivka, Soledar, Hryhorivka, Bakhmutske, Chasiv Yar, Bakhmut, Kostiantynivka, Mayorsk and New-York (Donetsk Oblast).

On the Avdiivka front, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in Donetsk Oblast came under Russian fire.

On the Novopavlivka front, attacks occurred near Vremivka, Velyka Novosilka,  Vuhledar, Prechystivka in Donetsk Oblast.

On the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson front, more than 25 settlements sustained damage. Among them are Huliaipole, Malynivka, Charivne and Dorozhnianka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and Respublikanets, Kozatske and Lvove in Kherson Oblast. Once again, the civilian infrastructure of Oleshky and Kherson came under Russian fire. There are casualties among civilians.

The occupiers lost 3 units of military equipment of various types, a command point, a communications centre, and about 230 wounded servicemen on 27 December in the settlements of Tokmak, Tytove, Chernihivka, Polohy and Berdiansk (Zaporizhzhia Oblast). Information regarding those killed is being confirmed.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian Air Force has carried out 17 strikes on areas where Russian forces are concentrated and 4 strikes on the positions of their anti-aircraft missile systems.

Rocket Forces and Artillery units from the Armed Forces of Ukraine hit five command posts, three clusters of Russian military personnel and an ammunition storage point belonging to the occupiers.
