Details: The media outlet reported that emergency services are already on the scene and have surrounded the fragment.

Visually, the fragment resembles parts of a long-range Kh-101/Kh-102-As-23 cruise missile. They entered service with the Russian Armed Forces in 2012 and were first used in Syria against ISIS in 2015.

Similar fragments recently fell in the Elansky and Rudnyansky districts of Volgograd Oblast. Later, officials officially recognised that the fragments belonged to the Russian military.

Local authorities claim that the falling fragment did not damage infrastructure, and no casualties were reported.

Background:

  • On 29 December, Ukraine’s Air Force destroyed 58 of the 70 Russian cruise missiles, four reconnaissance UAVs and one Mi-8 helicopter.
