This year is crucial, we must not give Russia a break to replenish forces – Zelenskyy

In an address to the Lithuanian Sejm, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has noted that 2023 is going to be "crucial", so it is important to combine efforts to break Russia on the territory of Ukraine and not give it any time to rest and recuperate.

Quote: "This year is crucial. Now we need even more mobilisation – in the entire free world.

This is the only way to end full-scale aggression. With total terror. And I am thankful for the fact that Lithuania is ready to help us with this...

We require urgent solutions from our entire anti-war coalition. New defence solutions will allow Ukrainian soldiers to push the Russian army out of our land. And this primarily concerns modern tanks and effective artillery.

We need new sanction solutions that will maintain constant and insurmountable pressure on the aggressor state and on all economic entities that are ensuring that the aggression continues.

And we need an international tribunal that will bring to justice those whose evil minds gave rise to this crime, this war.

When revenge-seekers from present-day Moscow are brought to justice, it will also be a historic punishment for those revenge-seekers who tried to break our freedom a generation ago."

Details: Zelenskyy said that the aggressor should be defeated on the territory of Ukraine, so that there were will no need to fight later on the lands of other nations of Europe: "And now [we need to see to it] that Russia does not get any respite, does not have time to adapt and cannot restore its strength."

He noted that the Russians are losing power and talking about the possibility of defeat, but this is not enough: "We must make sure that no aggressor will never again be able to dream of something like this and encroach on our freedom."

According to the president, the victory of Ukraine should be unequivocal: "One that Russia will not forget about. One that cannot be manipulated."

Zelenskyy also said that he was looking forward to the NATO summit in Vilnius.

The president believes that this summit may be fateful for the entire Euro-Atlantic community: "We will do everything to ensure that the summit is like this."
