Scholz calls on partners who can send tanks to Ukraine to do so now
Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, has called on international partners who are armed with Western-style battle tanks to send them to Ukraine immediately.

The chancellor has said that today Germany offers leadership in the field of security.
Quote: "We take upon ourselves the responsibility that a country of such size, location, and economic power as Germany must bear in such times," Scholz has said.
He called on partners who can send Western-style tanks to Ukraine to do so.
"All those who can send battle tanks of this type should do so. Defence Minister Pistorius, Foreign Minister Baerbock, and I personally strongly urge this. Germany will do everything in its power to make these decisions easier for partners. For example, training Ukrainian soldiers to drive tanks here in Germany or providing support in terms of supplies and logistics," the German chancellor said.
Background: German Defenсe Minister Boris Pistorius said it would be difficult for Western allies to assemble two full battalions of Leopard 2 tanks to send to Ukraine as promised.
Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov, after meeting with his German counterpart in Kyiv, announced that Ukraine should receive 80 Leopard 1s by the end of the year, and the first two dozen should arrive "by the summer".
