Poland ready to supply Ukraine with fighter jets, but will not be first among NATO countries

Poland is ready to supply Kyiv with fighter jets, but will not be the first NATO country to do so.

This was stated by Mateusz Morawiecki, the Prime Minister of Poland, at the EU Summit on Thursday 9 February, reports European Pravda

"Our position here is adamant. We can only act together within the framework of the entire association of the North Atlantic Treaty. If such a decision is made, we will not be the first to provide fighter jets, but we will probably respond positively to it," Morawiecki said.

He emphasised that the countries that have the most of these jets could be the first to provide Ukraine with modern combat aircraft.

Morawiecki noted that Poland itself does not have enough fighter jets, which is why it has ordered new F-35s.

Poland advocates that Western leaders at the Munich Security Conference not only discuss the possibility of supplying fighter jets to Ukraine, but also make a decision on this issue.

Earlier, Poland had stated that they are not discussing the possible transfer of F-16 multi-purpose fighter jets to Ukraine.
