Quote: "If the protocol had not stopped the meeting, we would have talked even longer. All the topics. Long-term support. Weapons. Politics. NATO. We clearly see how to end this war with our common victory."

Background: Before the beginning of the meeting with Zelenskyy, Biden stated that he was looking forward to the day Ukraine officially joins NATO.

European Pravda reported that the White House acts against the invitation and quick accession of Ukraine to NATO, mainly because Biden’s team deems it necessary to leave the space for negotiations with Russia for Ukraine since "what if Russia comes up with the idea to exchange peace for Ukraine’s refusal to join NATO?"

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the conditions for Ukraine's accession to NATO put forward by the Allies at the summit primarily concern security. Commenting on NATO's decision that the invitation to join will come only after "conditions are met", Zelenskyy assured those present that he has his own understanding of when this will happen.
