UK Defence Intelligence believes that Russia is intensively conducting military training among children in order to develop a culture of paramilitary patriotism among them.

Details: UK Defence Intelligence in its daily review recalled Russia’s plans to teach students the basics of controlling combat drones.

The intelligence service noted that Russian Senator Artyom Sheykin has announced that the lessons will include area reconnaissance and methods of countering enemy UAVs.

In addition to lessons on UAV control, Russia plans to teach students how to shoot a machine gun, how to handle hand grenades, and how to provide first aid.

All this will become mandatory from 1 September 2023 in the Basics of Life Safety programme for year 10 and 11 students.

Quote: "Russia’s renewed emphasis on military induction for children is largely an effort to cultivate a culture of militarised patriotism rather than develop genuine capability. However, the addition of UAV skills does highlight how Russia has identified the use of tactical UAVs in Ukraine as an enduring component of contemporary war."
