Russians continue forced passportisation in Ukraine's occupied territories – General Staff

The forced passportisation of Ukrainian citizens continues in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, and people are forced to obtain a Russian passport by threats and bribery there.

Quote: "In order to increase moral pressure on the residents of temporarily occupied Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast, and to force them to obtain Russian citizenship, the occupiers sent an order to local facilities of all forms of ownership to provide the so-called Ministry of State Security of the ‘DPR' [self-proclaimed and non-recognised Donetsk People’s Republic – ed.] with lists of employees who have not obtained a Russian passport. The deadline for compliance with the order is 1 January 2024.

At the same time, the occupation administration of the village of Blahovishchenka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast is taking measures to encourage local residents to obtain Russian citizenship. In particular, it offers pensioners a cash reward of 50,000 roubles [about US$547 – ed.]."
