Quote: "The city will not organise mass events on Independence Day. As the city authorities were informed by a letter from the President's Office, they plan to hold a state-level exhibition of units of damaged enemy equipment on Khreshchatyk."

Details: Due to this, from tonight onwards the traffic on Khreshchatyk on the segment from Maidan Nezalezhnosti to Bohdan Khmelnitsky street will be blocked.

At the same time, traffic along Bohdan Khmelnytsky street, from Khreshchatyk to Volodymyrska street, will open today at 23:30.

Background:

  • The Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine does not rule out that Russia might commit another act of missile terrorism on Ukraine’s Independence Day.
  • At the same time, Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat stressed that the aggressor state is methodically waging a bloody war against Ukraine and it is possible to expect missile strikes or other terrorist acts every day.
  • On the Independence Day of Ukraine on 24 August, the Kyiv Rescue Service and the Municipal Guard of Kyiv will be "in full combat readiness."
