Dozens of flights delayed at Moscow airports

Airspace was closed over Tula and Moscow oblasts in the Russian Federation, and dozens of flights were delayed at Moscow airports twice overnight.

Details: The BBC’s Russian service noted that the Russian authorities closed the airspace over Tula and part of Moscow oblasts immediately after the drone strike on the airport in Pskov and the explosion over Bryansk.

TASS reported the closure of Vnukovo airport in Moscow with reference to the aviation authorities.

The so-called Kovyor (Carpet) mode was put into action over Tula and Moscow oblasts, i.e. the closure of airspace due to a possible threat.

RIA Novosti reported that 25 departures and arrivals at Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports have been delayed, and 5 more have been cancelled, according to the Yandex Schedule service [Yandex is a Russian search engine – ed.].

Update: At 01:30, TASS reported that Vnukovo airport had resumed operations.

Later in the night, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports were closed again for arrivals and departures.

These airports resumed operation in the morning, according to Russian aviation authorities.
