Ukraine's Air Defence Forces down 17 missiles and 18 drones overnight

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with air-to-surface cruise missiles and attack drones on the night of 17-18 September, with Ukrainian defenders downing 18 drones and 17 missiles.

The Shahed drones were launched from two areas (Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia and Cape Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea). A total of 24 strike drones were recorded flying toward Mykolaiv and Odesa oblasts.

Air defence systems downed 18 attack drones, following their route."

Details: The Russian occupiers also launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers from Volgograd Oblast, Russia.

Eight aircraft were involved in the attack, and 17 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles were recorded as being launched.

The forces and assets of the Air Force of Ukraine destroyed all 17 missiles over Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.

The Defence Forces of Ukraine’s South reported that the Danube region was under attack overnight: "A recreation infrastructure facility in Vylkove hromada was hit. A fire broke out, which was promptly extinguished." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a town, village or several villages and their adjacent territories – ed.]

In addition, drone wreckage from a downed target caused a fire in a vacant two-storey building in Snihurivka hromada, Mykolaiv Oblast. The fire was promptly extinguished.
