Japan reports violation of airspace from Russia's side

The Ministry of Defence of Japan reported that a Russian helicopter had allegedly entered the air space of the country on 31 October.

Details: According to the reports of the Japanese Defence Ministry, the helicopter was spotted in the air space above the waters near the Nemuro peninsula in the east of the Hokkaido Island at about 12:44. The Japanese Air Force raised their own fighter jets to the skies in response to the violation.

Japan expressed a strong protest against Russia due to this incident.

Kyodo News reports that a similar violation by a Russian helicopter occurred in March 2022 after Japan, along with many other Western countries, started implementing sanctions against Russia.
