US President Joe Biden once again called on the members of the US Congress not to postpone the decision on additional funding to help Ukraine, but to make it before the Christmas holidays.

Quote from the US President: "Congress needs to pass the supplemental funding for Ukraine before they break for the holiday recess — before they give Putin the greatest Christmas gift they could possibly give him."

Details: At the same time, Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader in the Senate, said that Congress is unlikely to approve an additional package of funding for Ukraine until Christmas, even if both parties conclude an agreement that provides for this in the coming days.

The main stumbling block between Republicans and Democrats is the issue of migration on the southern border of the United States.

  • At a meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the White House on 12 December, US President Joe Biden announced that he had signed a decree to provide US$200 million in military aid to Ukraine.
  • After meeting with Zelenskyy, Biden said that his administration would continue to help Ukraine but warned that opportunities to do this are running out due to the lack of additional funding approved by Congress.
