Early reports indicate that based on markings found on the missile wreckage, it has been identified as one of the new modifications of the Kh-59 missile, which the Russians themselves refer to as the Kh-69.

Background:

  • Defense Express reported, citing sources, that the Russians likely employed their new Kh-69 cruise missiles during the strike on the Trypillia Thermal Power Plant (TPP), enabling them to utterly destroy the plant.
  • Illia Yevlash, Head of the Public Relations Service of Ukraine's Air Force, said Patriot systems would be an effective countermeasure, as they have successfully dealt with more complex types of Russian missiles such as Zircons and Kinzhals. Ukraine desperately needs to reinforce its air defence systems with these missile defence systems and the corresponding ammunition.
