Quote: "Undoubtedly, our policy of renewing relations with the United States must also be based solely on Belarusian interests...
We will wait for their big proposals, for a big deal… We are ready to make a big deal with them.
On one side of the scales are their questions, requests and demands; on the other side are our questions and demands. Shall we work on them? Let's do it. We are ready for it."
Details: Lukashenko said he was satisfied with the proposal from US President Donald Trump but stressed that Belarus's interests must be taken into account.
He also commented on Washington's stance on achieving peace in Ukraine.
The Kremlin ally said that Ukraine must exist as a sovereign, independent and peaceful state that "creates no problems or threats for anyone".
Quote: "We are for stopping the war now. Otherwise, this independent sovereign state (Ukraine – ed.) will disappear...
If the Americans want to settle the conflict in Ukraine and see some role for us in it, even a small one, we are ready to participate. We have stated our position: peace, peace and only peace."
More details: Lukashenko also mentioned his recent meetings with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, saying that Russia's leadership is committed to peace.
Lukashenko said that no Tomahawk missiles would solve anything and that their use would only escalate the situation towards a nuclear war.
Quote: "President Donald Trump understands this better than anyone, as he is in no hurry to hand over this lethal weapon for deep strikes into Russian territory, as President Zelenskyy is counting on."
