First day of Ukraine-US-Russia peace talks ends in Geneva

Ukraine, the US and Russia have finished talks on the political and military sections of the peace negotiations in Geneva.

Details: A source in the Ukrainian delegation told Ukrainska Pravda that by Tuesday evening the delegations had wrapped up discussions in the political section, with the military group continuing its work.

Update: Umierov later said that both the political and military sections have finished work for the day.

The groups will resume their work on Wednesday morning.

After the joint session, Umierov said, they continued in working groups by area.

More details: The Ukrainian delegation will report on the results of the first day of the Geneva peace talks to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Both the political and military groups will resume their work on the morning of 18 February.

Statements from the sides are expected on 18 February following the talks.

Background: A new round of peace negotiations in a trilateral format between Ukraine, the United States and Russia began in Geneva on 17 February.
