Second day of talks begins in Geneva, Ukraine's chief negotiator says

The second day of Ukraine-US-Russia talks on the settlement of Russia's war against Ukraine has begun in Geneva, Switzerland.

Details: Umierov wrote that consultations are being held in groups focused on specific political and military areas.

"We are working on clarifying the parameters and mechanisms of the decisions discussed yesterday. We are focused on substantive work. We will provide additional information on the results," he concluded.

Background:

• On 17 February, a new round of talks began in Geneva, during which, according to Umierov, the delegations were focusing on security and humanitarian issues.
• Meanwhile, Axios journalist Barak Ravid reported that the Geneva talks had "got stuck", adding that the reason was the positions presented by Russia's chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky.
• US President Donald Trump said ahead of trilateral talks in Geneva that Ukraine "better come to the table fast".
• On the night before the talks began, Russia conducted a large-scale attack on Ukraine.
