Poland seeks to strengthen drone cooperation with Ukraine

Poland is set to step up cooperation with Ukraine in the field of drones and jointly develop defence industry capabilities. The country is also considering testing its own UAVs and military equipment in real battlefield conditions on the front in Ukraine.
Source: Polish Deputy Minister of National Defence Cezary Tomczyk in a comment to the Polska Agencja Prasowa (PAP), a Polish news agency
Details: Tomczyk confirmed that Poland is interested in drone cooperation, including by drawing on Ukraine's combat experience. He cited the example of WB Electronics, a Polish company that has been working with the Ukrainian military since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion and pointed out the need to expand the scale of technology exchange.
Tomczyk also said there is a possibility of setting up joint drone production in Poland.
Quote from PAP: "The ministry's goal is to develop a model based on symbiosis and building a shared technological advantage, while maintaining the priority of supporting a neighbour at war."
More details: Poland is also considering testing weapons and UAVs on the battlefield of the Russo-Ukrainian war. Tomczyk said Ukraine is currently a "unique testing ground" because of direct combat contact with the Russian Armed Forces. Weapons produced in Poland are planned to be tested first at domestic training grounds and then sent for trials in real combat conditions.
Quote from Tomczyk: "This gives a real picture of what works and what does not."
More details: Tomczyk spoke to journalists at the Road to URC – Security and Defence Dimension conference in Rzeszów, which is part of preparations for the June Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in Gdańsk.
