Details: Ukrzaliznytsia said that as soon as the all-clear was given in the oblast, a reserve locomotive was found.

Quote: "We are not stopping traffic in frontline oblasts, but we ask passengers to be attentive and follow the instructions of the train crew."

Background:

  • Ukrzaliznytsia is installing more than 800 modular shelters across the country. The shelters are being manufactured in-house at the company's facilities.
  • Russia is stepping up its attacks on Ukraine's railway infrastructure: the Russians have carried out around 5,000 attacks since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022, and over 10% of all attacks have occurred in the first months of this year.
  • Comprehensive solutions have helped protect many trains from Russian UAV strikes, but to protect all trains along the front line at a depth of 30-60 kilometres, dozens of electronic warfare modules need to be installed on each train.
