Ukrainian air defences down 75 out of 84 Russian drones during daytime attack

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 84 loitering munitions and decoy drones between 08:30 and 17:00 on 20 May. Ukrainian air defences have downed or jammed 75 of the drones, although hits by six drones have been reported.

Details: Between 08:30 and 17:00, the Russians launched Shahed attack UAVs, including jet-powered models, as well as Gerbera and Italmas loitering munitions and Parodiya decoy drones.
Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.
Quote: "Early reports indicate that as of 17:00, air defence units had shot down or jammed 75 enemy Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas loitering munitions and Parodiya-type drones over the east, north and south of the country.
Hits by six attack UAVs have been recorded."
Details: The Air Force noted that the attack is still ongoing and that several Russian drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.
Background: One person was killed and 11 were injured as a result of a Russian strike on a residential area in the city of Konotop in Sumy Oblast on the night of 19-20 May.
