Reports from Russian sources claiming that Russian forces have captured the village of Hraniv in the Derhachi hromada of Kharkiv Oblast and wiped out units of the 58th Separate Motorised Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are false and do not reflect the actual situation on the ground.

The village of Hraniv remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces."

Details: The Corps reported that Ukrainian troops are holding positions designated by the military command, fending off Russian attacks and causing significant personnel and equipment losses to Russian armed forces.

The Ukrainian military said that all claims circulated by Russian social media communities about friendly fire among Ukrainian units, successful Russian assaults and close-range combat are part of a disinformation campaign aimed at concealing Russian failures, demoralising Ukrainian society and fabricating yet another "victory".

Meanwhile, on the morning of 27 May, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that Russian forces had occupied the village of Hraniv in Kharkiv Oblast. It also released a video as evidence, showing scenes of fighting that it said had taken place in Hraniv.

The Russians claimed that the capture of the settlement creates conditions for a further Russian advance towards Kozacha Lopan.

Hraniv is a village in Kharkiv Oblast, located on the banks of the Lopan River in Ukraine's northeast, near the border with Russia.
