Russian occupation authorities report drone strikes and bridges being closed in Kherson Oblast

Volodymyr Saldo, the Russian-installed governor of the occupied part of Kherson Oblast, has claimed that drone strikes damaged several bridges, leading to traffic restrictions and closures.

Quote: "The bridge near Chonhar has been damaged again following the overnight attack. Traffic through the Dzhankoi checkpoint has been completely suspended."
Details: Saldo said overnight strikes had also targeted the bridge connecting Henichesk with the Arabat Spit.
Quote: "Traffic on the bridge has been suspended. The drone threat remains, so workers will begin assessing the extent of the damage as soon as operational services allow."
Previously: Traffic between Russian-occupied Crimea and Kherson Oblast near the damaged bridge in the Chonhar area is moving across a pontoon crossing, with a queue of lorries forming in front of it. This was shown in the satellite images taken on 12 June.
Background:
- On 11 June, Russian occupation authorities in Kherson Oblast claimed that several bridges on the route to Crimea near Armiansk had been struck overnight.
- On the same day, explosions were heard in occupied Crimea. Local Telegram channels reported damage to bridges on the land approaches to the peninsula, while the Russian occupation authorities stated that fuel would not be sold in the city that day because fuel tankers were unable to enter.
- On 9 June, Saldo claimed that a bridge near Chonhar had again been damaged in what he said was an overnight Ukrainian drone attack.
- The Chonhar bridge is one of only two road routes linking mainland Ukraine with the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula.
- Satellite imagery of the bridge shows black scorch marks consistent with previous strikes.
