Details: Rutte said that during the NATO summit, scheduled for 5-7 July, allies plan to announce new defence contracts, sign letters of intent and conclude major agreements in the defence industry.
Quote: "At the summit, we will have a big defence industry day on the first day, and you will see a massive amount of new contracts, MOUs, letters of intent, but also big contracts being signed."
Details: Rutte said these steps are intended to demonstrate NATO's determination both to its own citizens and to Russia.
He also addressed Russia directly, saying the Alliance holds the advantage in defence production.
Quote: "[This is] also a signal to the Russians that, 'Hey, we know what you guys are doing, and we are better at it'."
Background: Alliance members are expected to commit to new weapons supply contracts worth billions of dollars and to increase arms production volumes, including for Ukraine, at the NATO summit in Ankara in July.
