Romania finds drone wreckage for fourth time in one day

The Romanian Defence Ministry has reported finding wreckage from another drone in the village of Plauru in the border county of Tulcea.

Details: A team of experts from the Defence Ministry arrived at the site where the drone wreckage was found, identified the object and secured the area.

Plauru is located two kilometres from the border with Ukraine.

The ministry said it will provide further details about the incident later.

This is the fourth such incident reported in Romania within 24 hours.

Background:

• The Defence Ministry reported earlier that a drone had crashed near Luncavița, also in Tulcea County, five kilometres from the Ukrainian border.
• On the afternoon of 14 August, wreckage of a military drone was discovered on the beach at the Romanian resort of Saturn, prompting the evacuation of tourists.
• This latest incident occurred after drone wreckage was found again on the beach in Costinești (about 17 km from Saturn), likely from the same drone that was found there the previous day.
• On the same day, three suspicious objects were found at different locations along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast: a fixed-wing drone, probably a reconnaissance drone and possible drone wreckage.
