Ukraine's acting foreign minister discusses Black Sea situation with Greek counterpart as Russian attacks continue

Ukraine's acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has reported that he has held a phone call with Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis focusing on the situation in the Black Sea.

Details: Sybiha said he briefed his Greek counterpart on the consequences of Russia's constant strikes on Ukrainian cities and infrastructure and the urgent need for air defence systems.

He also highlighted the security situation in the Black Sea, stressing that Russia's constant strikes on Ukrainian ports, maritime infrastructure and vessels pose a threat to international trade and global food security.

"For Ukraine and Greece, two maritime nations, freedom of navigation is a matter of principle and security. Russia is trying to turn the Black Sea – a vital artery connecting countries, markets, and people – into another instrument of pressure and intimidation. We share an interest in keeping it open, secure, and free for maritime navigation," Sybiha said.

The two ministers also discussed priorities for bilateral cooperation and broader international engagement.
