Defence minister outlines Ukraine's priorities ahead of Ukraine Defence Contact Group meeting
Ukraine's Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara has discussed preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (also known as the Ramstein format) with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in a phone call.

Details: During the call, Khmara and Rutte discussed Ukraine's immediate needs, primarily the supply of air defence systems and additional funding for the defence forces.
Khmara stressed that partner support in these areas is Ukraine's key priority ahead of the Ramstein meeting.
The minister emphasised the importance of consolidated support from partners for air defence and defence funding. Ukraine is counting on continued unity among its partners and swift decisions.
He also highlighted the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) programme, which helps ensure the supply of critical weapons to the defence forces of Ukraine.
Background:
- Khmara also held a phone call with German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, during which they discussed preparations for next week's meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group.
- The previous meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group was held on 18 June at NATO headquarters in Brussels. The United Kingdom and Germany co-chaired the meeting.
- Following the meeting, Pistorius announced the supply of a three-digit number of air-to-air missiles to Ukraine from German stocks, as well as the joint production of ground robotic systems.
