Putin will be ready for new talks on Ukraine after 20 September – European Pravda source

A source at the Élysée Palace has told European Pravda that Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin will be ready to resume peace negotiations on Ukraine after the Russian parliamentary elections on 18-20 September.

Details: The Élysée Palace official said that Putin may return to the negotiating table after 20 September, when Russia's parliamentary elections are over.

The source said that after visiting Moscow and meeting with Putin on 5 September, US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner conveyed the Russian leader's new position on the possibility of negotiations to the Ukrainian negotiators and security advisers from France, Germany and the UK (the E3) during their meeting in Kyiv on 6 September.

The source stressed that in their view, the Americans' key message to Ukraine and the E3 representatives was that the Kremlin will acquire a renewed willingness to negotiate after the State Duma elections, and that preparations for the start of such negotiations should begin now.

France also expects the E3 countries to be involved in the Ukraine-US-Russia negotiations in some way. Moreover, the Élysée Palace official mentioned that the French, as part of the E3, have already contributed to drafting a number of the documents that the US used during the negotiations with Russia and are willing to continue doing so.

The source also noted that the US supports the approach being taken by European countries in terms of maintaining sanctions pressure on Russia.

• As previously reported by European Pravda, following the talks in Kyiv with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the national security advisers from France, Germany and the UK – Emmanuel Bonne, Günter Sautter and Jonathan Powell – agreed to draw up, together with their Ukrainian counterparts, the conditions they will put forward in further negotiations with Russia over the coming weeks.
• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following his meeting with the special envoys of his US counterpart Donald Trump that preparations are underway for further meetings and relevant communication.
• According to Zelenskyy, several new ideas for the next stage of the negotiation process were proposed during the talks in Kyiv, and the sides agreed to hold another Ukraine-US-Europe meeting soon.
