Polish PM will visit Ukraine on Friday to meet Slovak PM and discuss Russia sanctions
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced that he will visit Ukraine on 18 September. Tusk will meet with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico and discuss sanctions against Russia.

Details: At a joint press conference with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker in Warsaw on 17 September, Tusk stated that he plans to discuss the issue of Russia sanctions while he is in Ukraine.
He also noted that he had been greatly surprised by the position France has taken on this issue, while Slovakia is, as usual, being "more cautious regarding various sanctions".
Quote: "After my meeting with the prime ministers of the Visegrád Group in Bratislava a few days ago, I am optimistic about the position of the Visegrád Group as a whole regarding sanctions. Tomorrow I will also meet with Prime Minister Fico in Ukraine, where a summit will be taking place. As regards the French position, however, I will try to find out from President Macron whether protecting the interests of a single individual is really a priority for France."
Background:
- Earlier, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the inaugural summit of the Carpathian Integration Initiative would take place in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast on 18-20 September. The event will bring together business representatives from various countries in the Carpathian region.
- European Pravda has reported that at a Coreper meeting on 14 September, neither Slovakia nor France would agree to change their demands. They are not prepared to extend sanctions against Russia unless these demands are met.
- The Slovaks are demanding the removal of Russian oligarchs Mihail Fridman and Alisher Usmanov from the sanctions list. France joined in demanding Usmanov's delisting on 11 September.
