US ambassador to NATO believes Ukrainian strikes deep inside Russia are bringing peace talks closer
US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker has stated that Ukraine's long-range strikes deep into Russian territory are helping bring Moscow and Kyiv closer to the negotiating table. At the same time, he emphasised that cooperation from both sides is necessary to end the war.

Details: Whitaker said Ukraine "continuing to make strong attacks on Russia... is helping to, I think, bring the sides closer together".
The ambassador cautioned that the sides remain "a long way apart" on key issues, adding that a solution will not be reached through military actions alone.
Quote: "This conflict is not going to be resolved on the battlefield. It's only going to [be resolved] through diplomacy and negotiation. That's why President Trump and his team continue to talk to both sides to find any similarities between the positions to bring them together."
Details: Whitaker stressed that concluding a peace deal will be impossible unless Russian ruler Vladimir Putin is willing to compromise.
"But I think if there's a deal to be made, President Trump is a businessman, he's a dealmaker, and I think he'll make the deal," he said.
