Details: Zelenskyy said that during the visit he is scheduled to meet German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bundestag President Julia Klöckner.

The Ukrainian president will also take part in this year's Berlin Security Conference.

Quote: "The key issues are our diplomatic coordination – with important meetings ahead – strengthening our air defence and supporting our energy sector. These will be the priorities of today's talks."

Background:

• The visit comes as US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced earlier that the US team would meet representatives from France, Germany, the UK, the EU and NATO in Brussels this week. The parties will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, among other things. NATO confirmed this meeting.
• Witkoff also announced that trilateral talks on ending the Russia-Ukraine war would take place next week in the capital of the United Arab Emirates and would focus on further steps towards peace.
• The Ukrainian president previously said that, following a conversation between European leaders and the Kremlin leader, there is a sense that Russia is serious about a meeting between negotiating teams in Abu Dhabi.
