The Russian military shelled and bombed Kharkiv’s residential areas and villages with renewed vigour last night. In the centre of Kharkiv, the Nikolsky shopping mall caught fire and was damaged. A shell hit a private house in the village of Slobozhanske, killing 4 people, 2 of them children.

According to the SES: "The enemy carried out shelling and aerial bombardment of various objects in residential areas of Kharkiv and the region’s villages with renewed vigour, especially last night.

At 22:46, we received a report of a fire and destruction in the Nikolsky shopping mall in central Kharkiv. The rescue services sent three divisions to the scene. Structural and decorative elements were burning on the fourth and the technical floors, as well as on the roof. The fire spread across an area of approximately 100 square metres. At 03:00 the fire was extinguished. There were no casualties."

Details: In another shelling last night, an enemy shell hit a private house in the village of Slobozhanske (in the Balakliia municipality of the Izyum district).

As a result of the destruction of the building, 4 people died under the rubble: 2 women and 2 children. A 5-year-old girl was injured but survived. A team of medics took her to Pervomaisk Hospital. SES units will be involved in the further search for th bodies of the dead.

In total, rescuers answered more than 30 calls to extinguish fires and clear the rubble of destroyed buildings. In total, more than 40 units of fire and rescue equipment and about 200 SES personnel were involved.

In Kharkiv, rescuers, volunteers, and utility service workers are clearing the rubble from destroyed residential and office buildings.

Specialist units of the SES continue to dispose of unexploded ordnance.
