Mykolaiv Mayor, Oleksandr Senkevych stated that the city was shelled at close range, in particular from the Kherson region, therefore there wasn't enough time to properly warn Mykolaiv residents about the bombardment of the city in the morning.

Details: The mayor explained that when the danger comes from the Crimea, there’s enough time to warn the citizens and launch the system. However, when the attack is carried out at close range, the system does not have enough time to start."

Senkevych said that people were rescued at place of bombing of the 79th Separate Assault Brigade. According to him, the aggressors attacked the barracks, but "some facilities were empty" and "some were affected."

At the same time, Western journalists report that at least 40 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in a Russian attack in Mykolayiv.
