Cluster munitions and air strikes: dozens of civilians killed and wounded in Donetsk region in 24 hours

On 18 March, Russian troops shelled 8 populated areas in the Donetsk region, damaging 37 buildings; civilians were killed and wounded, with children also injured.

Details: Over the past 24 hours, 8 settlements in the Donetsk region have been shelled by the Russians. At least 37 residential buildings and infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Dozens of civilians were killed and injured as a result of the Russian strikes. Some of the casualties included children.

Mariupol, Avdiivka, Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Novoselydivka, Verkhnotoretske, Krymka and Stepne came under fire from the occupying forces.

The Russian army shelled towns and villages with aircraft, rocket and heavy artillery, including the use of prohibited cluster weapons.

Among the civilian facilities destroyed by the Russian Federation are high-rise apartments and private residential buildings, a school, a kindergarten, a museum, a shopping centre and administrative buildings.

Police have opened criminal proceedings under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of laws and customs of war) and Article 110 (violation of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine).
