Background:

On 8 March, 27 civilians died in one day as a result of the Russian occupying forces' military operations in the Kharkiv region.

Russian occupying forces destroyed the Izyum city hospital with artillery. Patients and doctors had to get out from under the rubble on their own.

The Russians are concentrating their units to storm and seize Kharkiv, according to the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces. The occupying forces have been shelling residential areas with artillery, missiles and aircraft weapons since the full-scale war against Ukraine started on 24 February.

Russian occupying forces killed two people who came to feed the animals at the zoo in Kharkiv's eco park.

Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine's public rail transport company, has managed to evacuate more than 600,000 residents from Kharkiv.
