Russian troops wounded 373 children, 6 just on 19 April

The number of children who have been wounded or injured in Russian military aggression in Ukraine is on the rise; 6 Ukrainian children were wounded just on 19 April.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office: "Over 578 children have been victims of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. As of the morning of 20 April, the official number of children who have been killed remains the same: 205. The number of wounded rose to 373.

These numbers are provisional, as work continues to determine the number of casualties in the areas of active fighting and in the temporarily occupied or liberated territories of Ukraine."

Details: Most of the children affected were in the Donetsk (118), Kyiv (108), Kharkiv (91), Chernihiv (57), Kherson (43), Mykolaiv (40), Luhansk (36), Zaporizhzhia (25), Sumy (16), and Zhytomyr (15) regions and in the city of Kyiv (16).

On 15 March 2 children aged 6 and 8 were injured during shelling of a residential building in the village of Stara Buda, in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region. On the same day, the Russian military forcibly deported them to the Belarusian city of Mozyr.

On 18 April a 16-year-old boy was injured in the shelling of a residential area in the village of Berestovo, in the Bakhmut district of the Donetsk region.

Bombing and shelling carried out by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine has damaged 1,141 schools, kindergartens and other educational establishments, 99 of which have been completely destroyed.

Background: The government estimates that as of 27 March, nearly 5,000 people had died in Mariupol, including about 210 children. It is currently impossible to count the exact number of victims.
