Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov has accused the UN of condoning Russia's war crimes and said that if Ukraine is supplied with the weapons it needs and real sanctions are imposed, the Russian invaders could be expelled from Ukraine within a few months.

Quote: "In Russia’s war against Ukraine, the post-war world order and security also perished. Russia did everything that international security institutions were created to prevent. How can the UN Security Council, where Moscow has a permanent member's seat, fulfil its peacekeeping mission? What kind of security and cooperation can there be in Europe when one of the OSCE member states attacked another and killed thousands of civilians?

These organisations have failed. Like the League of Nations, they must be replaced by a new and more efficient system of international institutions capable of serving the interests of all countries, not just the big ones."

Details : According to the minister, the architecture of this new system should be based on the experience of Ukraine.

He recalled that in 1994 Ukraine abandoned the world's third largest nuclear arsenal, hoping that the signatures of world leaders on the document would be "worth something".

"But in 2008 Germany and France blocked our entry into NATO, actually encouraging the aggressor. In August 2008, Russia invaded Georgia and the world turned a blind eye. In 2014, Russia attacked Ukraine and the world decided not to interfere. Now Russian bombs are erasing our cities from the face of the earth, and the world is unable to stop it", Reznikov said indignantly.

He stressed that above all, Ukraine needs heavy weapons for the defence and liberation of the occupied territories.

It is also necessary to introduce a total world embargo on Russian oil and gas, as well as real sanctions against the Russian banking system and trade.

"If you do all this, the Russian invaders will be expelled from Ukraine in a few months," the minister stressed.
