According to Podolyak: "Finally, the whole world is tired of Russia, no one is interested in Moscow’s threats anymore. NATO's borders will reach the suburbs of St. Petersburg, in a possible translation of the conversation between the Finnish President, Sauli Niinisto, and the Russian president from diplomatic to plain language.

Welcome to the new reality, Mr Putin".

Reminder: On 12 May, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto and Prime Minister Sanna Marin officially announced their support for NATO membership.

On 14 May, Finnish President Sauli Niinisto told Vladimir Putin in a telephone conversation that his country will apply for NATO membership. The Russian president called that decision a mistake: he said there were no threats to Finland's security, and for many years Russia and Finland had been good neighbours and partners.

At the same time, Putin did not mention that he attacked neighbouring Ukraine, whose people he called "fraternal Russian people".
