Russians hit Odesa, attacking bridge, damaging a recreation centre, injuring child

On the morning of 16 May, Russian troops launched missile strikes on Odesa Oblast: they attacked a bridge across the Dniester estuary, a recreation centre was damaged, and three adults and a child were injured.

Details: The Odesa edition reported that a recreation centre in Odesa Oblast had been damaged as a result of the strike.

It was reported earlier that smoke was visible in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district of Odesa Oblast.

The Odesa authorities, quoting Pivden [South] Operational Command, reported that as a result of a missile strike on the Odesa region by strategic aviation aircraft, a tourist infrastructure facility had been hit, buildings had been destroyed, and a fire had broken out.

Rescuers and an investigative task force are working at the scene.

"The enemy continues to attack the damaged and non-functioning bridge across the Dniester estuary. But it is hitting civilians. Previously: 2 adults were injured and a small child was seriously injured. Other information is being confirmed," the city council said.

Rescuers later said the number of injured had risen to four.

According to Dumskaya, the sounds of explosions were also heard in Odesa itself, on Tairova street, , but that it could have been air defence.

The air-raid siren sounded from 08:39 to 09:45 in the morning in Odesa Oblast.
