Quote: "My sincere condolences to his relatives and friends. Let his son Vladislav know: Russia will answer for this death. We will definitely earn a victory for Ukraine. I am sure it was Oleksandr's dream, and we shall make it come true."

Details: Zelenskyy said Oleksandr Makhov, who served in the 95th Airborne Assault Brigade, died in the Kharkiv region in battles near Izium. The journalist was 36 years old.

"In 2017, he was the first Ukrainian journalist to visit our station in Antarctica. When COVID came, he was not afraid. He lived in Sanzhary for two weeks, where Ukrainians were brought from China. From the first day of the full-scale war, he was on the frontline - a volunteer, an ATO veteran ["Anti-Terrorist Operation" military counter-offensive in 2014- 2018, now renamed "Joint Forces Operation" - ed.], a fighter of the 95th Airborne Assault brigade. He was born in the Luhansk region. He had a profound understanding of what this war means," the President said.
