Belarus starts new command & staff exercises on border with Ukraine

Command & staff exercises with the territorial troops of the Zhlobyn district of the Belarusian army are taking place on the border with Ukraine.

Quote from Ministry of Defence of Belarus: "The purpose of the military training is to assess the readiness of the officials of the formed military units of the territorial troops to perform training and combat tasks, to improve the skills of reserve officers in working at the command post and in leading subordinate personnel during territorial defence tasks."

Details: The training will last from 12 July to 14 July. They will be managed by the deputy chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee.

It is reported that the following is to be worked on during the exercises:

  •         territorial protection and defence
  •         serving at a checkpoint while participating in the implementation of martial law measures. 

Background:

On the night of 11 July, a Russian Beriev A-50 aircraft was circling over Belarus, helping fighter jets identify targets in Ukraine. At the same time, no missile launches from the territory of Belarus were recorded on the night of 11 July.

On 7 July, Belarus resumed military exercises at training grounds; they will last until at least 16 July.
