Quote: "Despite the fact that overall crime rate (in Ukraine - ed.) decreased by 25 percent over the past six months and the level of serious crimes has remained at the same level as last year, the number of intentional murders has increased, due to murders committed in occupied and liberated territories.

During active hostilities, there is a large number of unrecorded crimes, trophies, and lost weapons, which enter peaceful territories in various ways. There, they are further distributed, stored, and also used to commit various types of crimes."

Details: According to Dziubynskyi, most of the crimes in the occupied territories are committed by the Russian military. However, the level of crime in Ukraine has generally decreased due to the mass emigration of people within the country and abroad, as a result of curfews and of the work of law enforcement officers and Ukraine’s Territorial Defence Forces.

At the same time, since May, a trend towards an increase in the level of crime has been recorded. Car theft statistics increased by almost 86% compared to last year, but the number of burglaries, robberies and theft decreased.

Quote: "In the territories where there are no active hostilities, almost no illegal seizures of vehicles have been recorded. We are seeing such crimes mainly in the occupied and liberated territories in Luhansk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy oblasts."
