Explosions rock Russian-occupied Melitopol

OLENA ROSHCHINA – WEDNESDAY, 10 AUGUST 2022, 23:33

Explosions have rocked the Russian-occupied city of Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia Oblast. The Russians have blocked Interkulturna Street near the so-called MREV [Ukrainian abbreviation for Interdistrict Registration and Examination Department, a department of the traffic police - ed.] building. However, they are assuring the local residents that the explosions followed the successful use of Russian air defence systems.

Details: Explosions rocked Melitopol around 21:45 on 9 August and were heard across most of the city. The blasts were particularly loud in the city centre, on Heroiv Ukrainy Street and the Schmidt Street.

The video shows that Interkulturna Street has been blocked off.

Local residents have reported that the occupiers had blocked the street off near the Epicentre shopping centre and the Russian MREV, which is part of Russia’s Main Directorate for Traffic Safety.

Kremlin-aligned propaganda media outlets hurried to tell Melitpol residents that the explosions followed the successful use of Russian air defence systems.

RIA Melitopol reported that thick smoke was rising above the MREV building, which had been struck. At least "several security guards" have been killed.
