Zelenskyy called the corvette which is being built for Ukraine "Hetman Ivan Mazepa"

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine gave a name to the first Ada-class corvette in the Ukrainian Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The corvette will be called the Hetman Ivan Mazepa. Turkey will build it for Ukraine.

Quote: "With the aim of reestablishing some of the historical traditions of the national armed forces and commemorating Ivan Mazepa, hetman [high military commander - ed.] of the Zaporizhzhia Cossack army and an outstanding Ukrainian statesman, I hereby decide:
To name the Ada-class corvette of the Ukrainian Navy after Hetman Ivan Mazepa and hereafter to call this corvette the ‘Hetman Ivan Mazepa’ corvette".
Background:
In 2021, the Ukrainian Navy made a decision to decommission the ship Vinnytsia (A206) and two inshore boats: the Tokmak (A733) and one more vessel.
