USA awaits sanction synchronisation from Ukraine, including Alfa-Bank

The United States of America is waiting for Ukrainian sanctions to be synchronised with American ones, including restrictions against Alfa-Bank.

Oksana Markarova, Ukraine’s ambassador to the US, has spoken about this in an interview with European Pravda. 

"Synchronising the sanctions of G7 and EU countries - that is, where they are the most noticeable - is the most important thing. But for our partners it is also crucial that we impose sanctions on Russian officials and so on. They are waiting for all our sanctions to be synchronised and mirrored as well," the ambassador pointed out. 

According to Markarova, "this process is gaining momentum" now.

"You see that we have the draft law approved already, which is even more important due to the possibility of seizing assets in favour of the state," she said.  

Asked how Alfa-Bank is functioning in Ukraine despite being sanctioned by the US, Markarova replied that "everyone involved in this aggression - individuals, soldiers, businesses, oligarchs - should all definitely be sanctioned. Everywhere. Including in Ukraine."

The US has banned all relations with Mikhail Fridman’s Alfa-Bank and the businessman and his partners are subject to international sanctions, yet Alfa-Bank is operating in Ukraine despite the invasion.
